Important Rules & Compliance Standards
- The EOT application must be submitted before the relevant statutory deadline expires.
- The application is subject to the Registrar’s review, approval, and any terms or conditions imposed.
- A private company must comply with the applicable timeline for circulation of Financial Statements and Reports to its members and subsequent lodgement with SSM.
- A public company must comply with the applicable timeline for circulation of Financial Statements, holding of AGM, and lodgement with SSM.
- The company must provide accurate financial year end dates, statutory deadline dates, and reasons for the EOT application.
- The company remains responsible for completing and lodging its Financial Statements and Reports within the extended period approved by SSM.
- A further EOT application may be required if the company is unable to meet the approved extended deadline.
- SSM’s statutory fee for an EOT application is RM100 for each application, excluding professional service fees.
- EOT approval does not remove the company’s obligation to prepare, audit where applicable, circulate, and lodge its Financial Statements and Reports.

SSM typically grants an extension of up to 30, 60, or a maximum of 90 days from the original statutory deadline, depending on the validity and urgency of the justification provided.
Only a registered Company Secretary (acting as the authorized lodge) can prepare and submit the EOT application online through the MBRS portal or the MyCoID portal on behalf of the company.

• Restructuring, legal disputes, or liquidation processes affecting accounting data.
In highly exceptional circumstances, a second extension can be requested, but it is rarely approved unless accompanied by overwhelming proof of unexpected hardship or court orders. The maximum combined extension rarely exceeds 90 days total.
