While setting up your business at a new location, the most basic requirement from the Malaysian government is a valid business license, but most entrepreneurs aren't familiar with the procedure of application and type of documents required for the application. Operating without a valid MBJB license is an offence and can lead to fines and other enforcement action by the council.

Operating without a valid license from Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) is an offence: under the Local Government Act 1976, breaching a council by-law can lead to a fine of up to RM2,000, imprisonment of up to one year, or both, plus up to RM200 for each day the offence continues.
